Description

INTRODUCING A NEW LINE OF CAROLYN HART CLASSICS, each with a new introduction by the author! Leah Devereaux is a dead woman. At least, that's what the folks now running the Devereaux plantation tell her: Leah has been presumed dead for nineteen years--since the day that both her parents died. Leah, very much alive, has returned to South Carolina to uncover the untold story of her parents' deaths. While some, like her cousin Merrick, welcome her, Cissy and John Edward tell her to stay away, tell her to stop meddling in secrets long kept. When a ghost known only as the Whispering Lady appears once again at the Devereaux plantation after years of absence, the locals know it's an omen of death. Merrick and Leah may be the next targets. . . .

Praise for The Devereaux Legacy (Carolyn Hart Classics #2)

"Faulkner's well-known line 'The past is never dead. It's not even past' could have been written for Carolyn Hart's The Devereaux Legacy. A romance? A ghost story? A mystery? The novel is all three and more, as heroine Leah Devereaux sifts through dark family secrets seeking to find out who she really is! Once again Hart displays her impressive versatility as a writer."
-Katherine Hall Page, author of the Faith Fairchild Mystery series

"A splendid mix of bone-chilling suspense, long-buried secrets, and ghostly hauntings. Add a tender romance set against the backdrop of a South Carolina plantation, and you have a masterpiece."
-Mary Kennedy, author of The Talk Radio Mysteries

"Mysteries in the past and the present haunt a young woman in this fun read for the fan of romantic suspense."
-JoAnna Carl, author of The Chocolate Moose Mystery, the twelfth installment in the Chocoholic Mystery series
